Outbound Orientation

WELCOME OUTBOUND STUDENTS

 
 
Your in person orientation will take place in Seabeck, Washington. This is your opportunity to meet fellow exchange students and get to know more about your journey in the coming year. 
 
This will be a packed event.
 
On this page, you will find some of the details about your orientation and what items you need to bring.

Preparation Notes

  • Canadian Students:  A travel schedule has been posted on the event page, please check and confirm any questions with an RYE 5020 committee member. Travel begins on Friday.  You will take the ferry to Washington on Friday and return home on Sunday. Canadian students will need to bring your passport, ArriveCAN app (registered as the student not your parents) and federal vaccine passport.  Instructions to both 5020 and 5050 students on how to get this have been sent. If you need more information, please contact your country officer. 
  • US Students:  Please arrange transportation to arrive at Seabeck by 2:30 PM on Friday and departure by 10:30 AM on Sunday 

Items To Bring  

  • 3 days change of clothes (this is a camp setting, do not bring dress-up clothes or high heeled shoes). PACK LIGHTLY  
  • Lightweight jacket (rainproof) and sweatshirt (it can get cold at night)
  • Swimsuit and/or shorts and shirt that can get wet
  • If bringing a camera be sure to have a name tag attached                                                          
  • Overnight bathroom supplies (toothbrush, etc)
  • Water bottle to refill
  • Research project (on a USB drive & physical copy)

Do Not Bring

  • laptops, iPads or tables
  • Towels and linens are supplied
  • We know that you will be using your cell phone camera to record some of these amazing memories; we expect that you will keep your cell phone turned off or on airplane mode so you can be present during presentations or conversations with other students and committee members.
